Environmental Sustainability and Innovation

Choosing between environmental protections and economic security is a false choice. Here is where we stand.

The Issue

Choosing between environmental protections and economic security is a false choice. Environmental reform, like most issues, has become increasingly partisan, with Democrats generally pushing for increased regulations and a swift transition towards low-carbon energy sources. Republicans, on the other hand, seem laser-focused on promoting fossil fuels, fewer regulations, and national security.

This creates an endless back and forth cycle whenever power shifts, without a cohesive vision. Pollution is bad, and that position should be universal. While we understand the need to stay globally competitive, and change does not happen overnight, inaction is not an option.

Where We Stand

RDM believes that protecting the environment and being economically competitive can both be achieved through collaboration, compromise, and coherent policymaking. Perpetual reliance on fossil fuels is not sound environmental or economic policy. It does not make us safer. The development of solar, wind, and nuclear energy should be explored and accelerated. The United States was the first country to put a man on the moon. That type of determination and innovation can usher in a new era of energy independence that does not destroy the environment.

The Solutions

RDM believes that investments in nuclear, wind, and solar energy can foster economic development while reducing our carbon footprint. Smart regulations should also be enacted by Congress, and not through executive order, so there can be a consistent and cohesive environmental policy. America should be a leader in innovative technology that also sustains our environment. Solutions will be explored in detail in blogs and videos, along with ways for Americans to take action to protect our environment while creating jobs and fostering innovation.
